What to look for when purchasing a bike rack:
- Is it a front or rear bike rack
- Does it fit your size and type of bike (disk brakes?) although many are universal fit
- Easy to install
- Durable construction
- For rear racks I like the style with a metal plate across the middle acting like a fender to keep the mud off
- Color as some styles are available in black, most are silver
- Maximum recommended weight capacity, particularly if you are using them for bicycle touring or grocery shopping
